MATS 321 - X-Ray Diffraction Analysis Credit Hours: 3 Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0
This course provides fundamental knowledge and analyzing skills in X-ray diffraction method. It covers the physics of X-ray generation, characteristics and safety issues; crystal geometry and Bragg diffraction; and various applications of XRD for materials research, including crystal structure determination, precise lattice parameter measurement, qualitative and quantitative phase analyses, crystal size and stress measurement. Prerequisite: MATS 204 and CHEM 161 and CHEM 162 and (PHYS 112 or PHYS 122 )
