CSC 523 - Applied Natural Language Processing Credit Hours: 3 Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0
The course provides an advanced set of tools, techniques, and deep learning architectures for natural language processing (NLP). It explores and reasons about text as data, focuses especially on the applied side of NLP using existing NLP methods and open source libraries. Topics covered in the course includes: word embeddings, named entity recognition (NER), text classification using recurrent neural networks (RNN), gated recurrent unit (GRU), long short-term memory (LSTM), sentiment analysis, text summarization, casual speech analysis, machine translations, generative pre-trained transformers (GPTs), transfer Learning with BERT. Prerequisite: CSC 513: Natural Language Processing
