ACCT 413 - Accounting and Financial Analytics

This course uses a hands-on learning approach to analyze accounting and financial data. Students will learn applications of data analysis concepts that include data scrubbing, data quality, data visualization, and reporting. They will also acquire techniques to structure and transform financial and non-financial data into useful information for decision-making. In ACCT 413, we’ll dive into valuable and practical analytics skills using tools like MS Excel and Power BI, tailored specifically for the finance sector. This course emphasizes how data analytics provides data-driven solutions for accounting decision-making by performing descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analyses. The course applies extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) techniques to prepare data with Excel and communicate data analytics results with data visualizations.
Prerequisite: ISBA 300  or ACCT 300
