The Department of Psychology offers a graduate program leading to the degree of Master of Arts in psychology. The Master of Arts in psychology program requires a minimum of 36 semester hours of graduate studies.
Learning Outcomes
1. Human Growth, Biology, Behavior, and Development: Illustrate the major theories of individual and family development and behavior across the life span.
2. Social and Cultural Diversity: Develop deeper awareness of self as a cultural being and how one’s worldview impacts interactions within micro and macro social systems.
3. Communication Skills and Relationships: Be able to explain theories of communication and their application to promoting relational effectiveness in personal, supervisory, consultative, and human service contexts.
4. Research: Be able to formulate appropriate research questions, determine appropriate statistical analyses to answer particular said questions, understand psychological research methodology, and demonstrate ability to appropriately consume psychological research.
5. Ethics and Professional Identity: Explain the roles, functions, and professional identity of social service professionals and outline personal career goals, objectives, and pathways.
