Cyber Security, B.S.

Admission Requirements: Students must earn a grade of C or higher in CSC 120 Introduction to Programming Methodology and CSC 140 Cybersecurity Ethics and Cybercrime.

Core Requirements: Minimum of 39 credits in the core curriculum required of all students. Students who enter as first-time freshmen must take an entering freshman and rising junior assessment to complete core requirements.

Other Major Requirements: Students must earn a grade of C or higher in all major courses and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Any student enrolled in a CSC or MATH course who does not meet the prerequisites for that course will be dropped.

Graduation Requirements: All graduating seniors are required to complete the Graduating Senior Assessment after completing 90 or more semester hours (including credit by examination), but not later than the graduation semester.

The BS in Cyber Security can be completed fully online.

University College Core Curriculum: 39 Credits

Transitional Studies - University Studies: 2 Credits

UNIV 101-102 required for all first-time students; UNIV 110 required for transfer students with fewer than 30 transfer credits. Students do not earn credit if requirement is waived. UNIV 111 may be required based on academic performance.

Transitional Studies - Life Skills: 2 Credits

Select two credits from the following: 

Communication Skills - Written Communication: 3 Credits

Communication Skills - Oral Communication: 3 Credits

Select one from the following: 

Information Literacy: 3 Credits

Reasoning Skills - Critical Thinking: 3 Credits

Not required for students with 60+ transfer credits. Students do not earn credit if requirement is waived. 

Select one from the following: 

Reasoning Skills - Quantitative Reasoning: 3 Credits

MATH 121  may be required based on profile scores. Some core courses require a one-hour lab. 

Scientific Literacy - Natural Sciences: 8 Credits

At least one natural science class must include its associated lab. Some majors require two lab sciences, increasing requirement to 8 credits.

Humanities and Creative Arts: 3 Credits

Select one from the following: 

Global Literacy: 3 Credits

Not required for students with 30+ transfer credits from a foreign institution. Students do not earn credit if requirement is waived.

Ethics and Civic Engagement: 3 Credits

Not required for students with 60+ transfer credits. Students do not earn credit if requirement is waived.

Select three credits from the following:

Cyber Security Major Courses: 46 Credits

Mathematics and Statistics: 6 Credits

Major Electives: 20 Credits

Free Electives: 9 Credits

Total Credit Hours: 120
