Criminal Justice, Thesis Option, M.S.

Program Requirements


Undergraduate degree from accredited institution. Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher on 4.0 scale. Two LETTERS of recommendation from academics (previous professors) are required.  If an applicant has been out of school for a number of years, letters from work references may be appropriate, but only if they speak to an applicant’s ability to academically succeed in a graduate program.  Exception: Recommendation forms may be used in lieu of a letter if 1) the applicant has earned a bachelor’s degree from FSU and 2) the form is completed by an FSU professor. Personal statement describing applicant’s career goals and how earning a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice will help them achieve their goals. The Criminal Justice Graduate Admissions Committee also will consider 1) evidence in the applicant’s personal statement and letters of recommendation indicating a strong potential for success in the graduate program, and 2) a grade of “B” or better in two out of two graduate Criminal Justice courses taken by the applicant on a professional development basis at Fayetteville State University. Electives: 15 Credits


Students may take  up to three times with different topics. Instructor permission is required for  and . Courses chosen with guidance of advisor. May take up to 12 semester hours outside the department (of these, a maximum of 6 hours may be transferred from another university.)
