MNFG 350 - Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing

Credit Hours: 3
Lecture Hours: 3
Lab Hours: 0

In this course students will explore the creation of 2D and 3D models using various software tools. These tools will be used to design and prototype various mechanical parts based on design requirements and constraints. The relationship between design and various manufacturing methods such as milling, turning and additive manufacturing will be explored. Features such as chamfers, fillets and rounds will be discussed. Students will develop part models, then develop and test a final course prototype solution using 3-axis CNC and 3D printed components. Some course components will occur in Lyons Science 134 – Prototyping Lab.
Prerequisite: MATS 204  and MNFG 300
