Fall 2020 Covid-19 Academic Standing Policy and Emergency Pass/Fail Grades Addendum

Fall 2020 Covid-19 Addendum

Academic Standing Policy

For Fall 2020, undergraduate students whose cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 will be placed on probation. Students placed on probation are expected to adhere to Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.

Undergraduate students whose cumulative GPA is below 2.0 at the end of the Fall 2020 semester will be placed on probation. Students have until the end of Spring 2021 to improve their GPA to 2.0 or higher. Students with a GPA below 2.0 at the end of Spring 2021 will be placed on academic suspension and must submit an academic appeal for the 2021-2022 academic year to determine financial aid eligibility.

Each semester, the total number of credits students attempt will be compared to the total number of credits earned. Per federal regulations, you must earn at least 67% of the credits you attempt. Undergraduate students who fall below 67% of their attempted hours and/or have 180 or more attempted hours, must submit an academic appeal to determine financial aid eligibility for the upcoming academic year.

Reasons for an academic appeal may include: COVID-19 disruption (classes moved from face-to-face to online and could not adjust), sickness due to COVID-19, caring for someone with symptoms due to COVID-19, death of a relative, documented illness or injury, etc.
