This course focuses on cultural diversity and how to begin the journey of becoming culturally competent in our society. It examines our own cultural beliefs, values, and practices and other cultures in the dental healthcare system. This course will teach the student how to develop cultural competence by acquiring the ability to provide care to patients with diverse backgrounds, values, beliefs, and behaviors, including tailoring delivery of care to meet patients’ social, cultural, and linguistic needs.
